This catalogue was published to accompany the exhibition Bridget Riley: Reconnaissance at the Dia Center for the Arts, New York (September 2000 - June 2001).  The meeting between Riley and Dia was initiated by Lynne Cooke, who has known the artist since the 1980s.  In consultation with Riley, Cooke orchestrated an engaging installation emphasising visual relationships over chronology. Cooke edited this catalogue, including her own essay, as well as a fresh and extensive critical text by John Elderfield, Curator of painting and sculpture at the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
